​The first session will be an initial assessment which typically takes 1 hour to complete. This will allow for assessment of phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, decoding, oral reading fluency, comprehension, spelling, morphology and rapid naming. An informal Dyslexia screening can also be administered, but to receive a formal diagnosis, students must have a psycho-educational assessment conducted by a pscyhologist. 

Tutoring sessions will typically range from 45-60 minutes in length and will provide explicit instruction for reading. The principles from the Orton-Gillingham approach will be followed in all sessions. Therefore, all sessions will be systematic and provide many opportunities for multi-sensory learning. They will also be customized to the learning needs of each individual student to provide effective instruction. All tutoring is currently being offered virtually.
